At the opening ceremony Wolf Nkole Helzle photographed 667 visitors of the festival. This was part of his long-term project “… and I am a part”, a reflection about the relation of the individual to humanity as a whole.

The visitors of the UNESCO World Youth Festival 2009 drew up a document called „A Wake-Up Call for Climate Protection. Stuttgart Declaration: a wake-up-call from the youth, for the youth, to the world’s decision makers”.
A Symbol For Friendship
Together with the agency Jung van Matt, participants of the UNESCO World-Youth-Festival 2009 created an international pictograph fpr “friendship”.
